“Eranos”
The play takes place in August 1947 during the week-long Eranos Conference hosted annually by Olga Fröbe-Kapetyn. The stillness of the setting on the shores of Lago Maggiore near Ascona, Switzerland, and the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains create a magical aura around the conference center. The Round Table under the trees and near the shore of the Lake is where all the action of the play takes place. To the left of the Table stands the carved stone with the inscription, Genio loci ignoto - “to the unknown genius of this place.”
