I come from Bandung, West Java—Indonesia, a place where the seen and the unseen, present, past and future merge into one. The urge to explore both the outer and inner worlds propelled me to leave my beloved home to learn from other cultures and to see my place of origin from far away.
I settled in Perth, Australia in 1997 to study medicine, and graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2002. I worked in psychiatry for 10 years as a medical officer in various public hospitals in Perth, servicing patients from a diverse demographic background, under the teaching of clinical supervisors, some of which I still bring into my work as a Jungian analyst. Prior to psychiatry I also spent a stint working on a medical ward with mainly Aboriginal children in central Australia. I was grateful for the opportunity to connect with the central Australian desert.
Life brought me to Zurich, Switzerland, where I encountered depth psychology in its birthplace. I then immersed myself in Jungian training in February 2014 at the International School of Analytical Psychology until December 2020 before I returned back to Perth.
I appreciate Jungian principle as it places equal importance on feeling, intuition and the irrational as much as rational factors—in both our personal life and working with clients. I do not have specific methods or presumptions in my work, rather; I embrace and follow the lead from both the conscious and unconscious in navigating and accompanying the client’s process. I attempt to see the person behind the diagnosis and am open to clients who bring topics from both the material and spiritual realms.
